Track History
Located on 83 acres just outside Livermore, California (Alameda County), "Altamont Speedway" first opened its gates on July 22, 1966.  Throughout its long history, the track--variously known as Altamont Speedway, Altamont Raceway, Altamont Raceway Park and Altamont Raceway Park and Arena--has hosted a wide variety of events. It also has attracted some of the biggest names in racing history, including notables such as Foyt, Andretti, and Unser.

In 2006, the facility was refurbished by new investors and opened under the new name of Altamont Motorsports Park. The historic facility today is a unique, multi-venue racing destination for many motorsports competitors, as well as a fan-friendly, family-friendly entertainment facility for the more than 6.5 million residents living within a 90-minute driving distance in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley.

Altamont Motorsports Park is sanctioned by NASCAR and USAC, and is proud to host the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series as well as Sprint car and Midget racing and a host of motorsports entertainment events.
